Carl Goldman
Carl Goldman, along with his wife, Jeri repurchased KHTS AM-1220, Santa Clarita’s hometown station on October 24, 2003. Since then, they have rebuilt KHTS as a critical voice of the Valley.
Carl Goldman has worked in radio since 1974. His experience includes seven years at a major Los Angeles radio station, KIQQ-FM. In 1980, he and a partner started their own radio syndication business, which they sold in 1983 to the Transtar Radio Networks. Carl remained with Transtar, which later merged to become Westwood One Radio, as Vice-President of Special Features through 1990.
In 1990, Carl became the CEO of Saddleback Broadcasting, Inc., which purchased radio station KBET (AM-1220), in Santa Clarita, California. In 1995, along with his CEO duties at Saddleback, he became COO of Gold Coast and High Desert Broadcasting, operating six radio stations in Oxnard/Ventura, CA. and five radio stations in Palmdale/Lancaster, CA., of which his company, Jeri Lyn Broadcasting, Inc., still owns a minority interest.
Carl, along with his wife Jeri and their two sons, Ryan (20) and Kyle (14) have remained residents of Santa Clarita since 1990. They continue to be very active members in the community.
Carl was named Santa Clarita Valley "Man Of The Year" in 2008.
Carl currently serves on the Executive Board of the Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce, as Vice-President, Government Affairs. He has served on the Santa Clarita Valley Film & Tourism Committee. He also heads up the Santa Clarita Council of the Los Angeles Chapter of the American Red Cross, as well as founding and heading up the Santa Clarita Disaster Coalition. He currently serves on Advisory Boards for SCV Bank, The Michael Hoefflin Foundation and the Boys & Girls Club and the SCV Theatre Project. In addition, Carl heads up the Committee for the Hart School District High School Honor Band Gala, and serves on a special advisory committee for ProvidenceHoly Cross Hospital and on several advisory boards and coalitions for the City of Santa Clarita.
In May, 2006, Carl, through the SCV Disaster Coalition, coordinated a book drive to restock five elementary school libraries in Houma, Louisiana. The school libraries had been destroyed by Hurricane Rita. The drive produced 97,000 books which were delivered to Houma, along with over $16,000.00 of book credit at Borders for the school librarians to use to fill voids. The coalition won two prestigious awards from the Emergency Preparedness Commission for Los Angeles County, and the Southern California section of Emergency Services.
In 2007, after the October wildfires, Carl spearheaded the Santa Clarita Disaster Coalition to work with the thirty one Santa Clarita families who lost their homes during the fires. The Coalition is continuing to provide support as these families rebuild their homes and their lives over the upcoming years.
Carl has helped coordinate a number of civic projects, including a Community Recycling Program, with the City and Waste Management/Blue Barrel, along with overseeing a special Santa Clarita event connected with the annual Love Ride in November 2005.
He has lead an annual Chamber of Commerce membership drive team in 2004 and 2005 that has won the award for most new members for the past two years.
In March 2006, he organized a group of local representatives on a trip to Sacramento to give a voice for our Valley with State Politicians. This has now become an annual KHTS radio sponsored event:

In 2005, he received the Santa Clarita Valley School Administrators Golden Apple Award.
In January, 2007, Carl received the Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce Individual Community Service Award.
In the past, Carl has served on a number of other local boards, including the board of the Canyon Country Chamber of Commerce, the Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce, the Santa Clarita Valley American Red Cross, Santa Clarita’s Michael Hoefflin Foundation for Pediatric Cancer, The College of the Canyon’s Foundation, The Santa Clarita Committee for the Aging; and numerous committees, and subcommittees.
Carl has organized numerous blood drives for the American Red Cross and Providence Holy Cross hospital.
Carl and Jeri donate thousands of hours each year to our Valley’s non-profits, as well as thousands of dollars in cash and auction items each year to numerous Santa Clarita charities. In addition, the radio station devotes a tremendous amount of airtime promoting the Valley’s non-profits, along with giving them daily exposure at the KHTS Community Resource Station at the Westfield Valencia Town Center.
Carl currently serves on two task forces for the City of Santa Clarita including the Open Space Committee along with the TCU committee.
Carl has a Master’s Degree (MA) in Communication Management from the Annenberg School of Communications at the University of Southern California and a BA in Mass Communications from Hampshire College in Amherst, MA.
